RED PLATE SCHEME
The red plate scheme permits roadworthy vehicles to be driven in conjunction with Club activities. With the Model T Ford, there is available both veteran and vintage plates within these categories. A recent overhaul to the system now allows for private usage of your club permitted vehicles. Each vehicle that is permitted with this club is issued a 45 or 90 day permit log book. Each time you use the vehicle your log book must be filled out prior to you leaving for your journey, detailing where you intend to travel. your log book must remain in the car at all times as well as proof of your membership of the club that the car is permitted with.
Practical demonstrations are conducted regularly at general meetings and club safety check days are held by twice annually.
The Club and/or its members attend the major swap meetings, held within Victoria and also some swap meetings outside of the state. The Club has held its own swap meeting for early Ford parts exclusively, and also holds an annual auction night as part of a monthly general meeting.
Although we are a motoring Club, one of our main aims, is to foster family participation and encourage comradeship by attendance at meetings, outings and social occasions. The Model T Ford Club of Victoria currently has well in excess of 170 families as members. We always look forward to meeting Model T owners and are continually working to get more of these cars back on our roads.
General meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month (except January) at 8.00 pm at the Ashburton library meeting room, 154 High Street, Ashburton. Club runs are held monthly, usually on the Sunday following the general meeting. The highlight of our annual touring calendar is the long weekend rallies held over the Labor Day and Melbourne Cup weekends. These rallies are usually hosted by our country members in an area of interest and generally attract over 25 cars! Members also participate in national rallies which are held every 3 years in conjunction with the South Australian and New South Wales Model T Ford Clubs. The Model T Ford Club of Australia (S.A.) is due to hold the next National Rally in the Spring of 2013 at South Australias Beautiful Barrossa Valley. Find imformation and rally entry forms at the S.A. Club website-www.modetfordclubaustralia.org.au.
