RESTORATION ADVISE

Practical demonstrations are conducted regularly at general meetings and club safety check days are held by twice annually.

SWAP MEETS

The Club and/or its members attend the major swap meetings, held within Victoria and also some swap meetings outside of the state. The Club has held its own swap meeting for early Ford parts exclusively, and also holds an annual auction night as part of a monthly general meeting.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Although we are a motoring Club, one of our main aims, is to foster family participation and encourage comradeship by attendance at meetings, outings and social occasions.  The Model T Ford Club of Victoria currently has well in excess of 100 families as members.  We always look forward to meeting Model T owners and are continually working to get more of these cars back on our roads.

General meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month (except January) at 8.00 pm at the Ashburton library meeting room, 154 High Street, Ashburton. Club runs are held monthly, usually on the Sunday following the general meeting. The highlight of our annual touring calendar is the long weekend rallies held over the Labor Day and Melbourne Cup weekends. These rallies are usually hosted by our country members in an area of interest and generally attract over 25 cars!  Members also participate in national rallies which are held every 3 years in conjunction with the South Australian and New South Wales Model T Ford Clubs. The Victorian club is due to host the 100th anniversary tour at Echuca In September 2008.

The Model T Ford has many unique features which include the 2 speed epicyclic transmission and trembler coil ignition.  Approx 15 million Model T Fords were manufactured between 1908 and 1927. The Model T Ford was recently awarded the ”Car of the Century” for the way in which it brought motoring within reach of the working class person.
